OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS | |||||||||||||||||
ON/OFF | Plug in the mains cord; two pin male plug into your AC wall power supply & female socket in the back of the instrument.
Start the instrument by pressing the On / Off Note: Pressing the On / Off again put the instrument off. |

Press Triputa and Press Start for Aadi Talam.
Press Variation for different Talam.
A complete Talam is defined by Talam, Jati & Nadai. Therefore First
The Display will Show selected talam in this fashion [ t – a ] (i.e.: t for Talam and a for ATA or [ t – r ] i.e.: t for Talam and r for Roopaka)
The Display will show selected Jati in this manner [ J – 4 ] (i.e.: J for Jati and 4 for Chatushram or [J – 5] i.e.: J for Jati and 5 for Khandam) Note: The machine will take Jati as 4 (Chatushra) if no Jati is selected.Only for Chapu & Ata talam the Jati will be taken as 5 (Khandam)
(i.e.: n for Nadai and 4 for Chatushram or [n – 5] i.e.: n for Nadai and 5 for Khandam) Note: If No Nadai is selected then 4 (Chatushra) Nadai will be selected.
Note:Manjira is Available for all combinations of Talam, Jati & Nadai (Variations Absent)Mridangam is available for the table shown in the beginning (Along with Indicated variations) |

Press Play and Talam starts from Sum.
Note: The Number “1” appears on the Display at the start of each Sum cycle. |

Talam can be stopped at any time by pressing the Stop.
Note: Any operation of the face panel can be performed without stopping the Talam. Play & Stop of Mrigangam, Manjira & Nadai is independent of each other. |

0 = Drutam, which is a beat with the palm and then with the back of the hand.
U = Anudrutam, which is simply a beat of the hand. 1 = Laghu, which consists of a beat plus the movements of the fingers of the hand. Note:If the Talam is not available in Mridangam, it will be played only in Manjira automatically |

VOLUME MRIDANGAM | To set the volume of Mridangam press the Volume followed by the Down or Up arrow to either Decrease or Increase the volume respectively. The volume level is visible in digits on the Display. | ||||||||||||||||
VOLUME MANJIRA | To set the volume of Manjira press the Volume followed by the Down or Up arrow to either Decrease or Increase the volume respectively. The volume level is visible in digits on the Display.
Volumes of Both Mridangam & Manjira are independent of each other. |

PITCH | Select your required Swaram (Note) using the Main SA. Use the Down & Up arrow to navigate from the lowest to the highest Swaram (i.e. main notes). The Swaram selected can be viewed on the display. Pitch range is from Katti 7 to Katti 7 (B to B) | ||||||||||||||||
FINE PITCH | You can further fine tune your Swaram by using the Fine SA. Use the Down & Up arrow to adjust between Swaram.
Note: The same is displayed by a “-” sign. The “-” on the right means the Swaram is going higher and on the left means the Swaram is going lower. |

TEMPO | To adjust tempo, press the Tempo followed by the Down or Up arrow to either Decrease or Increase the tempo respectively. | ||||||||||||||||
KALAM | To set the Laya of the instrument press the Kalam followed by the Down arrow to decrease the speed by half each time & then vise-versa. | ||||||||||||||||
BALANCE | The Relative Volume of the Edam Talai & Valam Talai of the mridangam can be balanced adjusted by pressing Balance followed by the Up or Down arrow.
Note: Fine SA allows very very fine pitch adjustment in-between two main notes (i.e. in-between C & C# by pressing Up arrow and in-between C & B by pressing Down arrow.

VARIATION | Pressing Varation will help you select different Styles of Playing of the same Talam.
Note: “TH1”, “TH2”, “TH3” etc. can be viewed on the Display on selection of different variations. If only 1 variation is present then only “TH1” is displayed. |

BATTERY | The instrument has an inbuilt battery charger which automatically charges batteries while the instrument is playing. Please use only rechargeable AAA size battery.
While charging batteries the Battery Charging LED will glow. In the event of the battery charge being low, the Low Battery LED will glow; thereby prompting you to connect the instrument to main AC power supply for charging the batteries. |
